Are you a walking "bad advertisement" for your business?

by David Haines 8. February 2010 08:45

antfarm My Mentor Tom 'Big Al' Schreiter shared this with me today. Hmmm... I think he was trying to tell me something... It's a good lesson for us all.

"Every day the ant works all day. Every hour the ant is busy. And in the end what happens?"

"Someone steps on him."

Many network marketers work their business every free hour they have. Weeknights, weekends, holidays, family reunions, wedding receptions, every event is an opportunity to pass out business cards, catalogs, brochures, audios and . . .

What's happening?

These network marketers are working all day, just like the ant. They are so busy with activities, they fail to see the big picture or real goal. We just hope these networkers don't get stepped on like the ant.

Here is a point of view that networkers should consider:
1. If you spend all your free time building your business, what is your prospect going to see? Your prospect will avoid joining your business because he doesn't want to spend every waking hour networking.

2. If you advertise how network marketing gives you time and money freedom, yet you work your business every waking hour, doesn't something feel wrong with this picture?

3. And what about all this activity? Networking should be simple. If all we have to do is sponsor a few people and build them into leaders, then what's all this other activity about?

4. Would a balanced, happy life attract more prospects?
We are living advertisements for network marketing. We should be careful what our advertising says.

What does your advertising say?

Great thoughts to ponder!

The Dark Side of MLM

by David Haines 1. February 2010 19:50

The Dark Side Hello Network Marketing Leaders!

People figure they have a great company, great products, excellent marketing plan, good skills, proven track record, and on and on … so success in this business should be like rolling off a log.

And then they get crushed UNDER the log!

Some facets of this business are so obvious, you may take them for granted …and never actually DO them.

For instance.

We talked earlier about a huge, all-encompassing, powerful “WHY” that will keep you going in your business, no matter what you come up against.

But you need ANOTHER huge, all-encompassing, powerful “WHY”.

THIS “WHY” is the reason your prospects should choose YOU over all their other 650 home business options. Your job is to make an impression on them that they will NEVER forget!

I don’t know your business. I don’t know what advantage YOU offer that puts you head and shoulders above your competition.

I only know that if you can’t offer that kind of advantage,

You Are ROADKILL!!

You got NO chance.

So to help give you some ideas, I’ll tell you the advantage we offer our prospects that elevates us above all the competition:

“I’ll provide a lead generation system that brings ONLY the most qualified people into your group. Then I’ll train them FREE, 5 nights a week, to build relationships and become Top Sponsors who will build YOU a lifetime residual income!”

… or the short version:

“I will personally help you get, mentor, and keep your people – for
FREE, 5 nights a week!”

You are certainly welcome to become part of our group and use OUR advantage.

Check out what we can offer you: http://tinyurl.com/MFFeBook

But in any event, you MUST be able to put YOUR focused advantage into a few words to create a lasting impression and elevate you above all your competition.

“So What?”

There’s a very well-known Direct Marketing guy (See? I DO know some of them!) who once told me that after he writes an ad, he reads every sentence to himself and asks,

“So What?”

If he doesn’t have a good answer, that sentence is GONE!

“So What?” is a good benchmark for YOU to use as you build your business. Everything you plan to do … every sentence you write … ask yourself, “So what?”

In other words …

Am I on-target?

Have I gotten hypnotized by a side-issue and gone off in some time-wasting direction?

Is this piece critical to the final picture?

Does this make sense? Can other people follow it?

“So what?” will help you execute.

You’ll learn to be surgical in focusing on what’s important.

You’ll get rid of much of the clutter in your life.

It will help you define your competitive advantage.

I strongly recommend it.

The Story of a Man Named Bill

by David Haines 20. January 2010 00:12

I met a man named Bill not too long ago.

Bill is around 75 years old.

Bill has a wealth of self help knowledge.

He's read all the greats; Napoleon Hill, George S Clason, Stephen Covey, Og Mandino, Paulo Coelho and listened to Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy, Jim Rohn and many, many others.

We talked for hours about Self Development, Law of Attraction, Pain vs. Pleasure, etc.

I connected with Bill. We shared the same passion. We wanted to better our lives.

During our conversation, Bill dropped a bombshell on me.

He said, "One day, I'm going to be rich!"

I was shocked!

I thought, "Dude, you're like 75 years old! You better get cracking!"

So I asked Bill his plan. He said, "I'm waiting for the right opportunity to present itself."

Unfortunately, this was before I was in Network Marketing, so I didn't have anything to present to him, but it really got me thinking.

It actually made me very depressed. I connected so well with Bill because I was exactly like him!

I've studied Self Development for over half my life. I've read 100s of books, listened to countless audios and bought endless programs.

Yet, I was exactly like Bill. "One day, I was going to be rich!"

One day! Tomorrow! Next Week! Next Month! Next Year!

And the years went by. And I did nothing.

I would tell myself, this next book or audio would be the key! It's right there! It's gonna happen!

And the years went by.

Until I met Bill.

Bill and I possessed all this knowledge, but neither one of us did anything with it. We assumed that because we had the knowledge, that the world would magically provide for us.

We never made the decision to take action to use what we knew.

I think that's a trap that a lot of people fall into. They think just by reading a book or listening to a CD or watching a video, their lives are going to change.

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. You have to put what you learn to use. The Universe isn't going to give you something for nothing.

That's the key to unlock the secret. Although, it's not much of a secret if you'd just do what all the Self Help Gurus tell you to do.

I lost touch with Bill shortly after that, so I can't continue with his story, but I can let you know a little more about mine.

Since that conversation I've changed practically every aspect of my life. Physically, Emotionally, Financially and Spiritually.

How did I do it? I put into action all those things I've learned. I've taken massive action. I've pushed myself beyond what I thought I could do.

It hasn't been easy, and I've been scared to death many days. I've even wanted to quit at times, many times. But I won't. Not this time.

Am I where I want to be? No. But every day I move closer. Every day I get stronger. I'm becoming the person I want to be. I'm just beginning to live the life I've dreamed of.

So let me ask you.... Do you have the knowledge? Are you putting it to use? Are you taking action and moving yourself in the direction you need to go?

Or are you like Bill? Waiting for an opportunity to reveal itself to you? Sitting on all that knowledge, waiting….

You know, there are 2 types of people in the world.

Those who dream the dream, and those who live the dream.

Which one are you?

Greed and Ego in Network Marketing

by David Haines 19. January 2010 12:40

greed Every time we have ever seen a company or downline explode and go away, it does so because of the same 2 reasons: GREED and EGO.

True leaders are the Mentors with the servant's heart. It's never about the money. No Money Focus = No Greed. Build people and people will build the business.

People are people. They are not a number. They have goals, dreams & desires. Network marketing is not a sales business. Network marketing is a teaching & mentoring business. So the track record & attitude of leadership is critical.

When you've joined a business and someone calls you, telling you to make a list of your friends & family, I can promise you that they do not have a system. "Friends & family" is what has been puked downline for the last 50 years, and that is the reason for such high failure rates in MLM.

It's Really All About Target Marketing

You've got to find people who will raise their hand, looking for you and/or your product, your service, your opportunity.

Too often, somebody calls you up, pitching you. They don't even know who you are. They don't care who you are. They don't care anything about you.

I've heard certain network marketing leaders say, "It's a relationship business." And many of these people have never built a relationship with anybody. Nobody on their team would want to go on a one-month cruise with them.

Some "Leaders" Don't Even Want To Be Around Their People At Convention!

Why? It's all about the greed & the ego. The fancy watch, fancy jewelry, fancy suit, exotic cars, being the superstar, all that stuff.

Do they ever help the person who's been squashed by life? Do they ever pay for the next guy going through the toll gate? Do they ever just freely give their time to mentor others, expecting nothing in return? Do they ever use their income to buy good tools for those in their group who are obviously trying to build?

No, they don't.

Instead, it's always about greed & ego, me, me, me. It's never about the other person.

You truly have to care about people. And then you won't have the greed and the ego. And THAT is the kind of person who can build huge in network marketing, because you will attract people just like you!

To build your own big income in MLM, the people you sponsor will need a constant stream of hot prospects. I can help you do that for them, and for yourself. For details, call me at (215) 268-6696 or go to http://www.davidahaines.com right now to see what we can do for you.

Sorting for Leaders

by David Haines 18. January 2010 12:10
sorting_lego

Hello Network Marketing Leaders!

While there are many ways to divide and subdivide people into groups, let's examine a simple way to sort for leaders.

For recruiting, training, and business-building purposes, it is advantageous for us to categorize people into two groups:

Group One:
Those people looking for reasons why something will work.

Group Two:
Those people looking for reasons why not.

Group One individuals are fun to work with. They are mature enough to realize that life isn't perfect. In fact, in many of their business decisions, they acknowledge there may be thousands of reasons why something won't work. All they need to go into action is one good reason why it will work.

They may be aware that their upline sponsor is a jerk, their personal contacts are useless wimps, the company's logo is the wrong color, the delivery of product is sporadic, the local meetings are boring, etc., but if they have just one good reason why the opportunity is good (such as the marketing plan is good, the product really helps people, etc.), then they can go ahead and be successful in the business.

Group One individuals are not excuse-driven. They look for the positive reasons why something will work, and then go into action.

Group Two individuals are constantly looking for flaws. Why?

If they can find the slightest excuse or reason why something may not work, they can then justify not trying. They may investigate an opportunity and find thousands of reasons why it will work, but they will concentrate on searching for any little reason not to go into action.

Group Two individuals are people who won't leave the house in the morning unless they can be sure every stoplight on the way to work will be green. Many upline leaders frustrate themselves by attempting to fix every excuse their Group Two distributors can think of. No matter how many obstacles you clear from their path, your Group Two distributors will create more to take their place.

Their motto is: "Any excuse will do."

So how's your group? Is it mostly Group One or Group Two people?

Stop wasting your time signing up Group Two people. To learn how to get quality leaders searching for YOU, go to http://www.davidahaines.com and sign up for our free MLM Letter. As a bonus you'll get a great eBook called "Success in 10 Steps".

Your Network Marketing Obligation!

by David Haines 17. January 2010 06:17

brainwash Hello Network Marketing Leaders!

We are not responsible for other people's personal decisions. We are not responsible for the spouse they choose, the job they choose, etc.

Do you want to present your network marketing business opportunity in a relaxed, stress-free, and rejection-free environment?

Try delivering your business presentation from this point of view.

Your obligation is to:

"Let the prospect know about your network marketing business opportunity."

That's it.
* You are not obligated to make up the prospect's mind.
* You are not obligated to force or close the prospect.
* You are not obligated to determine what's best for your prospect.
All you are obligated to do is to let the prospect know the facts. Then, it is up to the prospect to make a decision to join or not to join. Your prospect will know what is best for him.

Many times a prospect will hear about your network marketing business and it will not be a good time in his life to join. For instance, he could be getting married shortly. Maybe there is a problem at work or a family crisis.

We need to present our network marketing business in a professional manner, and treat the prospect like an adult. We should allow him to make a decision based upon his personal circumstances. So when the time is right for the prospect, he will think of you and your opportunity favorably.

Remember, don't take your prospect's decision personally.

We aren't responsible for making the decision about what is best in his life. We're only responsible for giving the prospect the opportunity to join our network marketing business.

To build your own big income in MLM, the people you sponsor will need a constant stream of hot prospects. I can help you do that for them, and for yourself. For details, call me at (215) 268-6696 or go to http://www.davidahaines.com right now to get our FREE eBook "Success in 10 Steps" to learn how to get hot prospects coming to you.

Sponsoring Tip #4: What your prospects really want to know.

by David Haines 11. January 2010 06:28

265908__experience My Mentor and Good Friend Tom 'Big Al' Schreiter sent me this and I thought I’d share:

When I do my live workshops, I don't do any introductions  and I don't spend any time talking about my credentials. I  just start sharing prospecting techniques.

The workshop participants don't care about my credentials.

And, they are right. My credentials won't make them a cent.

I wrote six books on how to sponsor distributors. Because  I wrote those six books, not a single workshop participant  will earn an extra dollar on his bonus check.

Even if my credentials included a Ph.D. degree in Networking,  my credentials still don't mean a thing.
Why? Because the workshop attendees don't want to know  about credentials -- they want to know about EXPERIENCES.

Book theory or my personal bank account balance won't  put money in the workshop participants' pockets. Real life  experiences, case studies, proven real world strategies and  techniques are what distributors want to hear.

The same principle applies to sponsoring.

What *don't*  your prospects want to know?

  *  They don't want to know how big your car is.
  *  They don't care how many heavy hitter awards you've won.
  *  They don't want to know how big your bonus check was last month.

All these things are things you've accomplished. Your prospects  may not believe they have the same skills or abilities to match  your accomplishments.

So, what do your prospects really want to know?

Experiences.

They want to know how you helped other distributors become  successful. They would like to hear about other people in  similar circumstances who have been helped by you to become  successful.

If you're successful in networking, you should have lots of  these real life experiences to share with prospects. Your  sponsoring presentations will be easy.

What if you're not successful in networking or just starting?
What should you do then?

Sounds like a great time to start building your successful  experiences. Instead of sponsoring wide, wide, wide, why  not concentrate on your best distributor? Put some extra  effort into helping one of your distributors make it to the top.

Once you have your first success story, move on to your next.
You'll soon get the reputation of somebody who makes people  successful. That's a great reputation to own. And, prospects  will be 'attracted' to you.

It makes sense. Prospects don't care what you have done for yourself. They want to know what you have done for the  people you have sponsored.

To build your own big income in MLM, the people you sponsor will need a constant stream of hot prospects. I can help you do that for them, and for yourself. For details, call me at (215) 268-6696 or send me an email at david@davidahaines.com right now and send me your name, phone number, and the best time to call.

Network Marketing Software - The Big Mistake Most Companies Make

by David Haines 6. January 2010 13:01

code I would like to share with you today a story and bit of advice my good friend and Mentor, Michael Dlouhy shared with me:

Most MLM companies rent their software. But they can never tweak it to fit their business model, and the distributor base suffers.

Let me give you a story on that. I was consulting for a network marketing company out in Utah.¬ They had a binary compensation plan, in other words a 2-legged plan - one left, one right. Real simple, right?

But the software they leased could not be changed from left to right, to reflect the binary. They tried.

They Had To Pay The Programmers To Come Back In & Reprogram It!

You would think that was a simple, simple, simple fix. But it couldn't be fixed over a 6 month period.

Here's what happened. Let's say you already have your strong leg going well. Now you go into your back office and put all your new sign-ups on your weak leg.

And you're building, building. You have ads running on the internet. People are joining you and your business is growing. And you think they're going on your weak leg.

All of a sudden, you find out they are all going on your strong leg. And in a binary, you only get paid based on your weak leg production. So this is a real problem.

Now You Have To Fight With The Company To Move Your People!

And what was so amazing about that process that I witnessed was, the company went out and hired more and more and more customer service people to handle the paperwork to move these new reps. And then they started charging the distributors $10 each to move the people that the company messed up on in the first place.

Finally, they got so overrun with people wanting to change these positions back over to their weak leg where they should have been in the first place - that they finally said, "We are not switching anybody anymore!" They couldn't handle all the influx of people needing that done.

Now that's a perfect example of buying your software and not being able to tweak it at all.

And when you rent the software, you better read the fine print, because you don't own the database.

You Do Not Own The Database!

About a year and a half ago, I saw a downline genealogy for sale on the internet. I happen to know the owners of the company. I called them up and said "Hey! What's going on? My gosh, your company is doing good, isn't it?"

"Yeah. Company is doing great. But we couldn't afford to buy the software, so we leased it. And part of the lease deal is, the software company owns the database."

And this software company thought it would be great to make an extra $100,000. So they put the genealogy for sale on the internet and sold it to 10 companies for $10,000 apiece. So they made a quick $100,000 selling the genealogy. And right in the Policies and Procedures, it said that the software company owned the genealogy. It was right there, right in black and white. How would you like to build your business and then have your organization for sale on the internet?

So before you build big with some company, ask them who owns their software. If they don't own it, then you could lose everything in a heartbeat.

The big reason they rent it is because it costs them about $2 million to buy it. They can rent it for about $10,000 a month. Most companies don't have the 2 million dollars to spend up front.

But the other thing is, if you really truly, understand your business and it functions, doesn't it make more sense to have someone program your specific software? Then you can work with them.

You Want a Company That Has Built Their Software From The Ground Up!

When the company has built it and owns it, the distributor base is protected.

Instead, these guys get the idea to start a network marketing company, and 10 minutes later, they are in business. So they call the software companies and find out it's 2, 3, 4 million dollars to buy the software program, but you can rent it for 4, 5, 10 grand a month and you're in business!

Now they know this is a tough business, and there's a very real chance they won't even be around 2 years. Taking on a $2 million obligation doesn't make sense to them. $10,000 a month is definitely the way to go. Problem is, you've sold your soul to the devil.

An Evil Secret

Another thing that software companies will do is - and this is a very well kept secret - they will be in partners with that MLM company. So there is a down-line organization, a leg being built by the MLM company for the software company.

That creates a retirement income for the software company on the backs of the distributors. How hard is it for the owners of the MLM company to move all their orphan distributors underneath the software company and build them a nice check? That's a very, very, very tightly kept secret,

It's just one more reason you need to build your future with a company that owns its own software.

Thanks Michael!

About the author

Lots of people ask me why I chose to get into Network Marketing. Well, the road wasn't as clear cut as one would imagine. Working as a Web Developer/Programmer was always a good way to make a living, and I never really thought there was any other way to do it.

But then it was announced that there would be no raises and no bonuses. And then people were laid off. Those of us who were "lucky" enough to have a job, found that we were working twice as hard for the same pay!

It got to the point that whenever I reached over to hit the snooze button on the alarm clock I would ask myself: Do I really want to get up in the dark and leave my family? Do I really want to sit in traffic day after day? Is this the life I dreamed of when I was younger?

Finally i decided to do something about it. When I did, I found something truely remarkable. Something more than money. I discovered that true happiness and success was in helping others. I discovered Network Marketing. True Network Marketing is about helping others and through helping others achieve success, you in turn achieve success. What a concept!

I now help others in Network Marketing save themselves Years of Failure and Frustration and most importantly...Save themselves Money. Doesn't matter what company you are with, I am happy to help and share what I've learned so others can achieve the Success I am experiencing in my Network Marketing company.

Would it be ok if I showed you how I got my Start?
